Abstract

Cryptobates Esaki, 1929 (Gerridae: Heteroptera) is a junior homonym of Cryptobates Fairmaire, 1882 (Tenebrionidae: Coleoptera); Lathriobates nom. nov., is proposed as a replacement name, with type species Gerris raja Distant, 1910. Cryptobatoides J. Polhemus, 1991 (Gerridae: Heteroptera) is a junior homonym of Cryptobatoides Kaszab, 1941 (Tenebrionidae: Coleoptera); Lathriobatoides nom. nov., is proposed as a replacement name, with type species Cryptobatoides brunneus J. Polhemus, 1991. Hydrometra akekawati Sites and J. Polhemus, 2003 is a junior synonym of Hydrometra okinawana Drake, 1951.
