Abstract

Cephaloziella uncinata R.M. Schust. (Cephaloziellaceae, Marchantiophyta) has been observed in a peaty forest of a former loop of the Seine River (Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandie). The criteria for a correct identification of this leafy liverwort, which is new to France, are discussed and compared synthetically to those of some close taxa. The ecology of its habitat and its worldwide distribution are given. The conservation issues of the species are discussed
