Abstract

Two new synonymies of bees of the genus Colletes described from “Japan” with species from eastern North America were detected: Colletes kudonis Cockerell, 1927 syn. nov. = Colletes simulans armatus Patton, 1879 and Colletes mitchelli Stephen, 1954 syn. nov. = Colletes speculiferus Cockerell, 1927. The identity of the type locality “Japan” and the taxonomic status of Colletes speculiferus are discussed.
