Abstract
Racomitrium aciculare is reported new for Missouri. Hypnum lindbergii var. americanum and Hygrohypnum eugyrium are similar in having weakly falcate, blunt leaves with weak costae, entire margins, inflated alar cells, and distinct, reddishorange cells interior to the alar cells. Hypnum lindbergii var. americanum differs gametophytically from Hygrohypnum eugyrium in having a distinct stem hyalodermis.
