A faculty member in the Entomology and Nematology Department at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, has stated, “This article repeatedly refers to the insects commonly as mealybugs. This is incorrect. The family of scale insects here is known as the ‘ortheziids’ or ensign scales.”
