A simple device for blood-feeding Aedes (Stegomyia) mosquitoes is described. Parafilm M is stretched and pressed into fiberglass window screen to form a packet for holding warmed blood. The method has been used successfully to maintain Aedes albopictus colonies for >2 yr. In typical blood-feeding trials, 53 ± 0.8% (±SE) of Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus) and 31 ± 6% of Ae. albopictus (Skuse) fed to repletion.
