Abstract

Halolaelaps posidonis sp. nov. and Halolaelaps bilobatus sp. nov. (Acari: Halolaelapidae) are described from seaweed on beaches in southern Australia. This is the first record of the family Halolaelapidae from the Australian Region. The classification of genera and subgenera in the family Halolaelapidae is reviewed, and shown to be in need of a comprehensive revision.
