Abstract

Four new species of eriophyoid mites from Hainan, China are described and illustrated. Three new species belong to the subfamily Diptilomiopinae: Acarhis kleinhovia sp. nov., on Kleinhovia hospita L. (Sterculiaceae); Neorhynacus buettnerus sp. nov., on Buettneria aspera Colebr. (Sterculiaceae); Vimola scutellata sp. nov., on Memecylon scutellatum (Lour.) Naud. (Melastomataceae); and another new specie in the subfamily Rhyncaphytoptinae: Cheiracus costus sp. nov., on Costus speciosus (Koenig) Smith (Zingiberaceae). All the new species described herein are vagrants on their respective host plant.
