Abstract

Nesticus eremita Simon 1879 is naturally found in caves in southern Europe. It has also invaded and established itself in Germany and has now been found in an abandoned air-raid tunnel in Auckland, New Zealand. A diagnosis, redescription, full synonymy and illustrations are presented to aid in the identification of this potentially invasive spider.
