The Journal of the Lepidopterists' Society and the News of The Lepidopterists' Society are now available online to all interested parties at  http://images.peabody.yale.edu/lepsoc/jls/and  http://images.peabody.yale.edu/lepsoc/nls/ respectively. The society's new open access solution is hosted on behalf of the Society by the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University. The contents for each issue of the Journal and News are posted as PDF files to these websites soon after the printed versions have been distributed to members. For the Journal, the posted PDFs represent individual Articles and Notes, whereas the posted PDFs for the News represent full issues. All of the PDFs contain embedded OCR layers which makes them both internally (within the PDF) and externally (via the web) searchable. The current websites are the result of ongoing work by David Lohman, Larry Gall, and their colleagues. Beginning in 2012, an embargo of Journal content (which had been 3 years) was removed, back issues of the News were scanned, and PDFs for both the News and Journal were reprocessed to embed OCR layers in all the files. In 2013, the News and Journal websites went live at their current addresses.
