Abstract

Five species of Aphaniosoma Becker, 1903 are recorded for the first time from Algeria: Aphaniosoma annulatum Lyneborg, 1973, A. approximatum Becker, 1903, A. fissum Collin, 1949, A. nigricauda Ebejer, 1998 and Aphaniosoma sp. All were collected in the northern Sahara of Algeria in the oases of Oued M'Zab and in the region of Ghardaïa. The limited information on distribution, biology and ecology of each species is presented and discussed.
