Allomedeia new genus is described for five new species of oscinelline Chloropidae from the Afrotropical region. The following species are described; Allomedeia prolata new species (Kenya, Uganda); Allomedeia pulva new species (South Africa); Allomedeia stuckenbergi new species (South Africa); Allomedeia xanthotes new species (South Africa, type species of genus); and Allomedeia xuthomaina new species (Nigeria). Three additional species from South Africa and Nigeria represented only by females or damaged specimens are not formally described but are included in a key to species. Allomedeia belongs to the tribe Elachipterini, in a clade that also includes the Old World tropical genera Disciphus Becker, Alombus Becker, Sepsidoscinis Hendel, and Anatrichus Loew.
