Le présent volume thématique fait suite au colloque international Observation zoologique, expérience et expérimentation sur l'animal, dans l'Antiquité et au Moyen Âge. Organisé par le réseau de recherche Zoomathia, cet événement s'est tenu à Nice, les 21 et 22 octobre 2022. L'ambition du colloque était d'étudier les liens entre la connaissance empirique rigoureuse et objective de l'animal et des activités d'investigation pratiques, réglées et éventuellement instrumentées, au cours des deux époques concernées.
Introduction.
This thematic volume follows on from the international symposium Zoological observation, experience and experimentation on animals in Antiquity and the Middle Ages, organised by the Zoomathia research network and held in Nice on 21 and 22 October 2022. The aim of the colloquium was to study the links between rigorous and objective empirical knowledge of animals and practical, regulated and possibly instrumented investigative activities during the two periods concerned.
