The salticid species Rudakius ludhianaensis (Tikader, 1974) was discovered while studying the role of spiders in controlling insect pests on mango trees in the Giza Governorate. This species is thus recorded from Egypt for the first time.

Die Springspinnenart Rudakius ludhianaensis (Tikader, 1974) wurde während einer Studie zur Rolle von Spinnen bei der Kontrolle von Insektenschädlingen auf Mangobäumen im Gouvernement Giza (Ägypten) gefunden. Dieser Nachweis stellt einen Erstnachweis für Ägypten dar.

Specimens of the genus Phalangium Linnaeus, 1758 (Phalangiidae Latreille, 1802) are reported from northern Iraq and were identified as Phalangium punctipes (L. Koch, 1878). These represent the first record of both, genus and species, for the Iraqi Opiliones fauna. The characteristic features of the species and illustrations of their habitat are presented. This record increases the number of known Opiliones in Iraq to six species, which is a very low number compared to the Opiliones checklists from two nearby countries, namely Iran with 28 species and Türkiye with 89 species and five subspecies. Nineteen species and two subspecies records from the Türkiye checklist are considered misidentifications and therefore omitted in our revised checklist.

Individuen aus der Gattung Phalangium Linnaeus, 1758 (Phalangiidae Latreille, 1802) werden aus dem nördlichen Irak gemeldet und konnten als Phalangium punctipes (L. Koch, 1878) identifiziert werden. Diese stellen den ersten Nachweis der Gattung wie auch der Art für die irakische Opilionidenfauna dar. Die typischen Merkmale der Art und Abbildungen des Habitats werden präsentiert. Dieser Nachweis erhöht die Anzahl der aus dem Irak bekannten Weberknechtarten auf sechs. Diese Zahl ist sehr niedrig im Vergleich zu Zahlen aus der Opilionidencheckliste des Irans mit 28 Arten und sowie der Türkei mit 89 Arten und fünf Unterarten, beides direkt benachbarte Länder. Neunzehn Arten und zwei Unterarten auf der türkischen Checkliste wurden als Fehlidentifikationen erkannt und daher von der revidierten Liste entfernt.

In Italy, the selenopid spider Selenops radiatus Latreille, 1819, was hitherto only known from the Aeolian Archipelago (northeastern Sicily), with a record from the island of Alicudi and plausible sightings from the island of Filicudi. In this paper, we present twenty-six new records from Sicily sensu stricto and its satellite islands, consisting of observations gathered from online naturalist networks and one adult specimen collected from the area where most observations were made. Nearly all records were made in buildings or similar artificial habitats, supporting the hypothesis that occurrences of S. radiatus are mainly limited to synanthropic environments in Sicily.

Selenops radiatus Latreille, 1819, ein Vertreter der Selenopidae, war bisher aus Italien nur von den Äolischen Inseln (nordöstliches Sizilien) belegt, mit einem Nachweis von der Insel Alicudi und plausiblen Beobachtungen von der Insel Filicudi. In dieser Arbeit werden 26 weitere Nachweise der Art von der Insel Sizilien wie auch umgebenden Inseln vorgestellt. Diese bestehen aus Beobachtungen, welche auf Online-Netzwerken zusammengetragen wurden sowie einem gesammelten Exemplar aus dem geografischen Bereich, woher die meisten Beobachtungen stammen. Nahezu alle Nachweise stammen aus Gebäuden oder ähnlichen künstlichen Lebensräumen. Dies unterstützt die Hypothese, dass Vorkommen von S. radiatus hauptsächlich auf synanthrope Lebensräume in Sizilien beschränkt sind.

The arachnid fauna of the Maltese Islands has not yet been adequately investigated. In the present work, from a total of 117 species sampled, 36 taxa represent newly recorded spider species (Araneae) for Malta, with an additional new record of a harvestman (Opiliones). These new records include three new spider families and one new harvestman family for the Maltese archipelago: Anyphaenidae Bertkau, 1878, Mimetidae Simon, 1881, Oxyopidae Thorell, 1869 and Sclerosomatidae Simon, 1879; as well as two species which are recorded from Europe for the first time: Acartauchenius insigniceps (Simon, 1894) and Zelotes poecilochroaeformis Denis, 1937. Ecological, distributional, biogeographical and taxonomic notes are provided for the newly recorded species.

Die Spinnentierfauna der Maltesischen Inseln ist bisher vergleichsweise wenig untersucht. In der vorliegenden Arbeit konnten während dreier Aufenthalte auf den Inseln aus insgesamt 117 gesammelten Arten 36 Erstnachweise von Spinnenarten (Araneae) und der Erstnachweis einer Weberknechtart (Opiliones) erbracht werden. Bei den Spinnennachweisen sind drei für die Inseln neue Familien sowie bei den Weberknechten eine neue Familie enthalten. Zwei Arten sind neu für Europa. Zu einigen der neu nachge-wiesenen Arten werden biologische und taxonomische Hinweise gegeben.

We describe the hitherto unknown male of Centromerus fuerteventurensis Wunderlich, 1992 and present new illustrations of the epigyne and vulva. We also provide an update on the known distribution of this species on the Canary Islands.

In dieser Arbeit wird das bisher unbekannte Männchen von Centromerus fuerteventurensis Wunderlich, 1992 beschrieben, sowie neue Abbildungen der Epigyne und Vulva vorgelegt. Ebenso werden neue Daten zur bekannten Verbreitung der Art auf den Kanarischen Inseln präsentiert.

In a study originally motivated by the observation of effects of an accidental fire, spiders were sampled with pitfall traps during the vegetation periods 2010, 2012 and 2014 in two burned sites and a neighbouring reference site in the Northern Black Forest. Fire was caused by a motorbike accident at April 25, 2010 and affected approximately one ha of wet mountain heathland (locally called “Grinden”), partly dominated by purple moor-grass and partly by dwarf mountain pines. Pitfall traps were of the conventional type with plastic cups of 300 ml and an opening diameter of 67 mm, filled with a capture preservative and emptied every two weeks. Traps were protected against rain by non-transparent metallic roofs and plastic funnels were inserted in the cups to minimize capture of small vertebrates. In 2010, acetic acid was used in a 2.5% solution with a drop of detergent added in five traps per site. In 2012, in each site three traps were filled with acetic acid, three (six in control site) with propylene glycol. In 2014, five traps per site were filled with propylene glycol. Distance between traps was 5–10 m. The dataset includes 2566 (2018 adult) spiders of 102 species in 20 families. The study provided records of several species by then unrecorded or very rare in Baden-Württemberg: Agyneta ressli, Anguliphantes tripartitus, Evansia merens, Gonatium paradoxum, Sintula corniger, Achaeridion conigerum, Sibianor larae, Talavera inopinata and contributed to the inventory of spider species in the national park Black Forest.

Anthropogenic transport of plants, food, and other materials has been a route of dispersal for many arthropods and some tropical species have inadvertently been introduced to European hothouses where they have established reproducing populations. This study reports the first records of the introduction of the arachnid order Schizomida to Danish hothouses: namely Stenochrus portoricensis as well as a new species of Bamazomus (Schizomida: Hubbardiidae). The latter, Bamazomus serendipitus sp. n. is described. Possible origins of introductions for both species are addressed, based on comparison of newly generated and publicly available DNA barcodes, history of introduction of plants, and for B. serendipitus sp. n. also morphological similarity to other Bamazomus species. Stenochrus portoricensis has likely been introduced from Costa Rica and B. serendipitus sp. n. is suggested to originate from Southeast Asia.

Anthropogener Transport von Pflanzen, Nahrungsmitteln und anderen Materialien ist für viele Arthropoden ein Verbreitungsweg und manch tropische Art wurden unbeabsichtigt in europäische Gewächshäuser eingeschleppt, wo sie reproduzierende Populationen bilden konnte. Diese Studie präsentiert den ersten Nachweis einer Verschleppung der Spinnentierordnung Schizomida in dänische Gewächshäuser anhand der Art Stenochrus portoricensis wie auch einer neuen Art der Gattung Bamazomus (Schizomida: Hubbardiidae). Die letztere, Bamazomus serendipitus sp. n., wird neu beschrieben. Mögliche Einschleppungswege für beide Wege werden anhand von öffentlich verfügbaren DNA Barcodes, Herkunftsgeschichte der Pflanzen wie auch morphologischen Ähnlichkeiten von B. serendipitus sp. n. zu anderen Bamazomus-Arten diskutiert. Stenochrus portoricensis wurde wahrscheinlich aus Costa Rica eingeschleppt und B. serendipitus sp. n. stammt vermutlich aus Südostasien.
