Leaf anatomy study of the genus Sacciolepis Nash (Poaceae, Panicoideae, Paniceae) is presented and discussed. It is based on the analysis of epidermis in paradermal view and blade sections of 18 species of this genus. It is concluded that the leaf anatomy does not support previous proposals of subdivisions of Sacciolepis, nor correlates with the geographical distribution of species, and it has a very limited predictive value of the environment where these species grow. An identification key, for the species of the genus Sacciolepis based on the leaf anatomy, is provided.
