Riccardia amazonica is one of the most widespread tropical species in the genus Riccardia, occurring on soil, shaded rock and rotten wood in lowland and montane rainforests throughout tropical South America. A study of type specimens shows that the name R. amazonica should be replaced by R. regnellii. The latter species has been confused with R. sprucei. Riccardia regnellii is a further example of a Riccardia species that can be monoicous or dioicous. African specimens identified as R. amazonica do not belong to this species; the correct name for the African plants is R. longispica. Riccardia regnellii is lectotypified.

Chiastocaulon fimbriatum is reported new for China based on recent collections from Yunnan. It is a variable species and an updated description is provided with additional details of the newly discovered sporophytes and male plants. Chiastocaulon fimbriatum is characterized by the following features: 1) robust plant size with orbicular leaves; 2) cells in the upper part of leaf thin-walled yet with trigones; 3) leaves slightly decurrent dorsally; 4) inner bracts horizontally spreading on ventral side with multiple minute teeth on irregularlyshaped lobes; and 5) large spores. Through different stages of growth, C. fimbriatum exhibits a great variety in the shape of both leaf and perianth. The large cylindrical perianth is another important diagnostic character of this species; however, when immature, the perianths are of little taxonomic value since they can be conical or campanulate in shape at different stages of development. Based on newly obtained material, we failed to observe decurrence of leaves on the dorsal side of the stem to be a key diagnostic feature for this species. A key for the genus in China is provided, based on specimens from Yunnan.

The new moss species Polytrichadelphus spinosus A.M. Aponte-R. & Uribe is described and its diagnostic features are illustrated. It is recognized by the small teeth on the abaxial leaf surface, particularly on the costa, from the apex to the sheath, the pyriform to round apical cells of the lamellae, the broad shoulders and the stomata distributed almost over the entire capsule. It occurs in western Colombia, in the departments of Chocó, Risaralda, Huila, Putumayo, Valle del Cauca and Nariño, predominantly in montane forests slopes in open to disturbed forests. A table contrasting the new and sympatric species of Polytrichadelphus is presented.

We describe Pycnolejeunea chocoensis M.E.Reiner & Gradst. sp. nov. from wet lowland rainforest along the Pacific coast of Colombia (Chocó). The new species is distinguished by small decurved lobules, absence of ocelli and small, distant underleaves. Pycnolejeunea chocoensis is a further addition to the unusually rich flora of the Chocó region.

Campylopus introflexus (Hedw.) Brid. is the most widespread invasive moss species in Europe. Originating from the Southern Hemisphere, it is nowadays causing serious changes in coastal sand habitats of Western Europe and invading various anthropogenic habitats in Central Europe. In South-Eastern Europe, the species was initially found in Croatia in 2013, in the Dinaric region in the karst plain Vrhovinsko polje, on leached bare soil and pine bark remnants. In 2015, another stand of similar size was found in the peri-Pannonian region, on Mt Papuk, on a gneiss cliff in an acidophilous sessile oak forest. These two localities are on the South-Eastern frontline of the species' invasion within Europe. The oldest individuals were three to four years old, and sporophytes were not found. At the moment, it seems that the invasive moss is not a threat to native flora in the Dinaric region. Nevertheless, special attention should be given to the peri-Pannonian and Eastern Balkan regions, since its expansion could threaten the habitats of native moss and lichen species growing in similar acidic forests. Since the bryoflora of South-Eastern Europe is still largely undersampled, directed surveys and monitoring programs should be promptly established.

Sixty two (62) bryophytes (one hornwort, 36 liverworts and 25 mosses) are added to the flora of Martinique. These include ten new generic records: Phaeomegaceros, Bromeliophila, Monodactylopsis, Myriocoleopsis, Rectolejeunea, Anomobryum, Brymela, Bryohumbertia, Lepidopilidium and Microcampylopus. Campylopus anderssonii and C. heterostachys are newly reported for the West Indies. Drepanolejeunea fragilis and Anomobryum conicum are new for the Lesser Antilles.

Although numerous papers have already been published on the New Caledonia bryophytes, our knowledge of the bryophyte flora of the territory still remains incomplete. Here we report 13 species new to New Caledonia: six liverworts (Bazzania caudistipula, B. loricata, B. wooroonooran, Ceratolejeunea belangeriana, Riccardia albomarginata, R. colensoi) and seven mosses (Austinia tenuinervis, Chionoloma crassicostatum, Diphyscium longifolium, Ectropothecium dealbatum, Fabronia australis, Schwetschkea pygmaea, Trichosteleum subfalcatulum). The occurrence in New Caledonia of one hornwort (Dendroceros granulatus), four liverworts (Acrolejeunea securifolia subsp. caledonica, Bazzania subtilis, Kurzia caduciloba, Spruceanthus thozetianus) and one moss (Chionoloma dubium) is confirmed and additional data on the species are provided. New combinations and synonymies are proposed for four liverworts (Mastigobryum bernieri f. falcifolium = Bazzania bernieri, Cryptolophocolea subcostata ≡ Lophocolea subcostata, Heteroscyphus confertus ≡ Chiloscyphus confertus, Heteroscyphus rotundiphyllus ≡ Chiloscyphus rotundifolius) and three mosses (Radulina borbonica = Trichosteleum insigne, Trichosteleum stigmosum = Trichosteleum piliferum, Trichostomum noumeanum ≡ Hymenostomum noumeanum). Finally, one name is suppressed (Mastigobryum pancheri) and three species are rejected from the bryoflora of New Caledonia (Bazzania falcifolia, Pseudosymblepharis angustata, Spruceanthus sulcatus).

Ulota drummondii (Hook. & Grev.) Brid. is a Suboceanic Boreal-montane epiphytic moss whose disjunct distribution includes both coasts of North America, East Asia, as well as northern and central Europe, being an extraordinarily rare moss in its southernmost known localities in Europe. It was reported some years ago from northern Spain, but the revision of the specimens on which the record was based demonstrate to be misidentified. Therefore, this species was not included in the treatment of the genus Ulota in the Flora Briofítica Ibérica. Recently, the species was collected 140 km away of the previous erroneous record, and this led to a search for other specimens from the main Iberian herbaria. Here, we present a description of this moss based on the Spanish material in order to complete certain shortcomings or inaccuracies found in previous descriptions. Additionally, the species is illustrated with pictures from both stereo and light microscopes. A key for the discrimination of the Ulota s.l. species (including genus Plenogemma Plášek, Sawicki & Ochyra) recognised in Europe and surrounding territories is presented.

The study of the type specimen of Bartramia minuta Taylor, a species described based on Ecuadorian samples that predates the recently resurrected Chilean Philonotis brevifolia Herzog shows that both names displayed the same set of diagnostic characters. In this contribution, P. minuta is proposed as the correct name of this taxon, a lectotype is selected, and its distribution is extended to North America, based on samples collected in California.
