This paper firstly takes the 30 cities in 5 provinces of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration as the research objects, and constructs the SBM-DEA ecological efficiency calculation model. By introducing the ‘ideal’ index sequence, the efficiency of each city is calculated from 2003 to 2017, and time-spatial evolution regularities is analyzed. An empirical study on the impacts of ecological efficiency of each city is carried out by using Tobit model with panel data. The results show that: (1) the overall efficiency of Zhongyuan Urban Agglomeration continues to improve, but the gap between its members continues to widen; (2) degree centrality, betweenness centrality, industrial structure, urbanization rate and intensity of innovation have positive impacts on ecological efficiency, while closeness centrality has a negative, and intensity of foreign capital utilization has no significant impact.
