In the current port container distribution transportation system, drop and pull transport can effectively solve problems of insufficient loading and unloading capacity at loading and unloading points as well as low transportation efficiency. However, to fully use the advantages of drop and pull transport, its core problem (vehicle scheduling) must be solved. To achieve this, this paper established and analyzed a mathematical model through specific examples. These are based on the characteristics of port drop and pull transport and the multi-depot vehicle scheduling problem with full load. The results of the example show that via reasonable vehicle scheduling, the advantages of energy savings and emission reduction can be achieved.
