Abstract

Dolichurus heevansi, new species, is described from Baltic amber (Middle Eocene). It is the first fossil representative of a modern day genus in Ampulicidae. Putative relationships of D. heevansi with recent Dolichurus and fossil Ampulicidae are discussed. The taxonomic status of all known fossil Ampulicidae is evaluated.
