Abstract

Until now the known Nearctic representation of the fungus gnat genus Syntemna Winnertz was limited to four species occurring in Canada and the western United States as far east as the Rocky Mountain region. Syntemna taura Taber and Syntemna cabasseta Taber are the first species reported from the eastern half of the U.S. where they occur in the Great Lakes region. Adult males were collected in Malaise traps in jack pine woods, but adult females and juvenile stages are unknown.
