Abstract

A new genus and species of the otopheidomenid mite, Orthopteroseius sinicus gen et sp. nov. is described for specimens off hosts, Elimaea punctifera (Walker) and Hexacentrus mundus (Walker), from Hong Kong and South China. The new mite is the second species in the family Otopheidomenidae found in the tracheae of orthopteran insects.
