The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) will postpone elections for new Commissioners, initially planned to be held in conjunction with the 23rd International Congress of Zoology and 26th International Congress of Entomology. Both congresses have been delayed from their original dates of 19–24 July 2020 due to the global COVID-19 outbreak.

The deferred ICZN general session will be scheduled during the 23rd International Congress of Zoology to be held from 21 to 26 November 2021 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Commission has thus extended its nomination deadline from 1 May 2020 to 1 September 2021.
