30 December 2020 Notice of New Applications to the Commission (Case 3827–3838)

The following 12 new applications have been received since the last Notice of New Applications was published in the Bulletin (volume 77: 78, 30 July 2020). Under Article 82 of the Code, the prevailing usage of names in the applications is to be maintained until the Commission's rulings on the applications (as Opinions) have been published.

Case 3827: Dates of publication of bird names introduced by Coenraad Temminck in the first twenty livraisons of the Nouveau recueil de planches coloriées in 1821–1822. Edward C. Dickinson, Pepijn Kamminga, Alain Lebossé and Steven van der Mije.

Case 3828: The family name of the pearl oysters: Proposal to remove the homonymy of Margaritidae Blainville, 1824 (Mollusca, Bivalvia) with Margaritidae Thiele, 1924 (Mollusca, Gastropoda), by amending the latter to Margaritesidae. Rüdiger Bieler and Philippe Bouchet.

Case 3829: Halitherium Kaup, 1838 and Halitherium schinzii (Kaup, 1838) (Mammalia, Sirenia): proposed conservation of current usage by designation of a neotype for Halitherium schinzii. Daryl P. Domning.

Case 3830: Proposed suppression for nomenclatural purposes of the work: “Studien über die skandinavischen und arktischen Maldaniden…” (Annelida, Maldanidae). Inaugural-Dissertation zur Erlangungen der Doktorwürde” by Ivar Arwidsson. Sergio I. Salazar-Vallejo.

Case 3831: Marmosa isthmica Goldman, 1912 (Mammalia, Didelphimorphia, DIDELPHIDAE): Proposal to conserve current usage by suppressing its senior synonym, Marmosa regina Thomas, 1898. Robert S. Voss and Thomas Giarla.

Case 3832: Cryphalus saltuarius Weise, 1891 (Coleoptera, curculionidae): proposed conservation of the specific name by suppression of Bostrichus asperatus Gyllenhal, 1813 (currently Cryphalus asperatus). Mathias Just Justesen, Åke Lindelöw and Miloš Knížek.

Case 3833: Hyla prasina Burmeister, 1856 (currently Boana prasina; Amphibia, Anura, HYLIDAE): proposed precedence over Hyla quoyi Bory de Saint-Vincent, 1828. Henrique C. Costa, Diego J. Santana, Francisco Kolenc, Diego Baldo, Ulisses Caramaschi, Alain Dubois and Annemarie Ohler.

Case 3834: Ctenarytaina Ferris & Klyver, 1932 (Insecta, Hemiptera): proposed precedence over Eurhinocola Crawford, 1912. Daniel Burckhardt and Dalva Luiz de Queiroz.

Case 3835: Charopus rotundatus Erichson, 1840 (Coleoptera, Melyridae, Malachiinae): proposed conservation of current usage by designation of a neotype. Gabriele Franzini.

Case 3836: Sycon Risso, 1827 (Porifera, Sycettidae): proposed conservation of the genus name. Rob W.M. van Soest and Michelle Klautau.

Case 3837: Trilobatus Spezzaferri, Kucera, Pearson, Wade, Rappo, Poole, Morard & Stalder, 2015 (Foraminifera, Globigerinidae): proposed precedence over Trilobigerina Popescu, 1987. Paul N. Pearson, Michal Kucera, Silvia Spezzaferri and Bridget S. Wade.

Case 3838: Helix plicaria Lamarck, 1816 (currently Hemicycla plicaria; Gastropoda, Eupulmonata, Stylommatophora, Helicidae): proposed conservation of the specific name. Benedikt Wiggering, Matthias Glaubrecht and Marco T. Neiber.
