The Mexican long-tongued bat Choeronycteris mexicana is rare in Texas, as well as elsewhere in the United States and in Mexico. A C. mexicana was captured in December 2007 at a residence in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas. This is the first record of this species in western Texas.
