Interactions between the American badger (Taxidea taxus) and members of the Canidae have been reported in detail previously in the literature, including the coyote (Canis latrans), swift fox (Vulpes velox), and red fox (Vulpes vulpes). Most of these interactions were cooperative or nonantagonistic; however, a few were exploitative or otherwise antagonistic. Here we report for the first time antagonistic and nonantagonistic interactions between the San Joaquin kit fox (Vulpes macrotis mutica) and the American badger.
