Although formal IPM programs began in Florida citrus in the mid-1970’s, classic IPM principles of pest management have been studied and implemented since the early 1900’s. Today, the Florida citrus IPM program utilizes selective chemicals, natural enemies, and cultural practices to maintain pest populations below economic levels. The historical evolution and current status of this program are discussed.
