Abstract

The economic threshold for stable flies on feedlot cattle is estimated to be five flies per front leg. Research data supports this estimate. Results between studies on the effects of stable flies on dairy cattle, where variables are controlled, differ from field studies. Further research is needed on the effect of stable flies on pasture cattle and on the effect of stable flies on the metabolic and immune systems of animals.
