Modern taxonomy of larvae of some broadnosed weevils in Curculionidae is treated with emphasis on Polydrosinae (Otiorhynchinae) and Lepesoma of Entiminae (Leptopiinae). Morphological structures defined and discussed in order are basic abdominal folds; cranial parts—ecdysial line and stripe, parietal areas and bands, epistomal and frontal sutures, occipital vittae, paraepicranial suture bands, ocellar spot, antennal accessory sensory appendage, and sensillum and scrobiculum; mouth parts—labium prementum arms, ligula sensillae, and epipharyngeal setae and sensilla clusters; internal cranial parts—hypopharyngeal bracon maculae and membrane, and tentorial bridge arches and apophyses; external parts—postoccipital process, gular area, dorsolateral area, pleural line and epipleuron, abdominal tips, setal chaetotaxy, and microsetae and pedal setae. Taxonomy of Polydrosinae genera treated and respective number of species included in each genus are Sciopithes (1), Trachyphloeus (2), Peritelinus (1), Nemocestes (2), and Otiorhynchus (7). Genus and species of Entiminae treated: Lepesoma (5). Illustrations of the head, labium, epipharynx, thorax (dorsal and side views), abdomen (A 2 and A 7–10), hypopharyngeal bracon and maculae, pedal lobe (left side), and anal area are shown for each species, with parts of Otiorhynchus sulcatus and Lepesoma tanneri labeled as examples.
