BioOne Complete includes over 200 independently published scientific journals. BioOne holds a non-exclusive license to publish content on behalf of its participants, but is not the copyright holder or owner of any journals included in BioOne Complete. Each publication is owned by a nonprofit society, institution, or press that determines its own editorial strategy and re-use guidelines. For this reason, BioOne cannot stipulate any blanket re-use policies, to include author archiving. Each primary publisher determines their organizational policies independently. BioOne allows for the use of text and data mining (TDM) by Authorized Users* to derive information from the Licensed Materials for the purpose of research or private study, but  not for Commercial Use (ie, for profit).

* Authorized users include current members of the faculty, staff, and students enrolled at a Licensing Institution, who are permitted to access the institution's secure network and who have been issued a password or other authentication by the Licensee.
