Abstract

Phanacis neserorum sp. n. is described from both sexes from South Africa. This species has been reared from the stems of Chrysanthemoides monilifera (Asteraceae) and is the first record of a phytophagous Afrotropical cynipoid wasp. The taxonomic placement of the new species within the genus Phanacis is discussed.
