Abstract

We present evidence that the most recent redescription of Elysia patina Marcus, 1980, by Ortea et al. (2005) is incorrect. Instead, the redescribed characters used to classify E. patina exactly match those of Elysia papillosa Verrill, 1901. Therefore, Ortea et al.'s (2005) redescriptions of E. patina and E. papillosa should not be used.
