Abstract

Amblygnathus georgei, new species, (type locality: Bolivia, Santa Cruz Department, 3.7 kilometers SSE of Buena Vista, vicinity of Hotel Flora y Fauna, 17° 29.949′S, 63° 33.152′W″) is described, keyed, illustrated, and placed in a species group. This species represents the first South American member of the Amblygnathus iripennis (Say) group. Additionally, three species of Amblygnathus are recorded for the first time from Bolivia: A. bicolor Ball and Maddison, A. lucidus Dejean, and A. janthinus Dejean. Amblygnathus bicolor is also recorded for the first time from Peru.
