When Chiloscyphus alpicola J.J.Engel was described it was placed in a section together with Chiloscyphus aperticaulis J.J.Engel, which in the concept used in Söderström et al. (2016; WCL) is included in Lophocolea. There exists no combination for Chiloscyphus alpicola in Lophocolea (Dumort.) Dumort. Thus the new combination is needed.

Lophocolea alpicola (J.J.Engel) L.Söderstr. et A.Hagborg, comb. nov. Basionym: Chiloscyphus alpicola J.J.Engel, Phytotaxa 207(2): 181, 2015 (Engel 2015).
