Abstract

Rhynchophorus palmarum is one of the most important pests for the coconut palm industry in Mexico. Although its biological cycle is closely related to palms, there is increasing evidence that indicates the use of other host plants to complete its development. This report describes the use of collapsed papaya stems as plant material in which the development of R. palmarum could be evidenced in Armería, Colima, Mexico.
