Abstract

New material of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from the Uttarakhand State of India is reported. Ten species are identified, among which Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) rostratus Lundblad, 1969 is reported for the first time for India and two species, i.e. Monatractides smiti (Torrenticolidae) and Atractides uttarakhandensis (Hygrobatidae) are described as new to science. One sample collected in standing water in Uttar Pradesh State revealed the presence of three Arrenurus species, of which A. (Truncaturus) indicus Smit & Pešić, 2008 was reported for the first time after the original description.
