Abstract

The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature has used its plenary power to conserve the specific names of two species of agriculturally important cochineal scale insect, Dactylopius coccus Costa, 1829 and Dactylopius tomentosus (Lamarck, 1801), by suppressing the senior subjective synonyms Coccus sativusLancry, 1791 and Coccus mexicanusLamarck, 1801 for the former, and Coccus silvestrisLancry, 1791 for the latter.
