Abstract

Over hundred years have passed since Syntelia davidis Fairmaire, 1889, was reported from China (Moupin, now called Baoxing), but it was neglected and not included in any subsequent works treating the beetle fauna of China. This paper reports the rediscovery of the family Synteliidae in China and describes two species, Syntelia sinica Zhou, new species, and S. mazuri Zhou, new species, based on specimens collected in Sichuan province. Taxonomic history and current status of this beetle family are briefly reviewed, and a key to Asian species is given. Type specimens are deposited in Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica.
