Specimens of Piazorhinus from Arizona and New Mexico, previously considered Piazorhinus scutellaris (Say, 1826), are here described as Piazorhinus caeloinsularis Hespenheide, new species. The new species is distinguished from P. scutellaris, and genitalia of both species are illustrated. New distribution records of P. scutellaris are given. Similar Central American species are also briefly discussed and distinguished.
