Larvae of Lopesia curupirae sp. nov., a new species of Cecidomyiidae (Diptera), were found in leaflet galls of Anadenanthera colubrina (Vell.) Brenan (Fabaceae) sampled in an urban park in Ribeirão Preto municipality, São Paulo State, Brazil. In this paper, we describe and illustrate the larva, pupa, male, female, gall, and aspects of biology of the new species.
