Abstract

The Euxesta sororcula species group, which contains several pests of corn, is reviewed based on study of type and newly collected specimens. A new synonymy is proposed: Euxesta obliquestriata Hendel, 1909 = Euxesta mazorca Steyskal, 1974, syn. nov. Euxesta sororcula (Wiedemann, 1830), previously known from South and Central America as a pest of sweet corn, is here reported for the first time in the United States, in the state of Texas. Illustrations of and a key to the species of the E. sororcula species group are provided.
