We assessed predation on a threatened freshwater mussel, Potamilus amphichaenus, in the Sabine River in eastern Texas during the 2011 drought. We examined 79 recently deceased mussels, and 58 of these had signs indicating predation as the cause of death. This evidence and the absence of live specimens suggest that predation during low flow may contribute to the decline of P. amphichaenus.
