Abstract

The invertebrate fauna of the Mississippi River is compiled from published material (215 total taxa) is compiled from published material (205 taxa) and records of 10 new taxa obtained in a dietary study of sturgeon in the Lower Mississippi River. The previously undocumented taxa are Leptophlebia sp. (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae), Pseudiron centralis McDunnough (Ephemeroptera: Pseudironidae), Gillotia sp. (Diptera: Chironomidae), Lipiniella sp. (Diptera: Chironomidae), Metriocnemus fuscipes (Meigen) (Diptera: Chironomidae), Parachironomus sp. (Diptera: Chironomidae), Paratendipes basidens Townes (Diptera: Chironomidae), Polypedilum flavum (Johannsen) (Diptera: Chironomidae), Saetheria sp. (Diptera: Chironomidae), and Zavrelia sp. (Diptera: Chironomidae).
