Weed Science continues to be one of the premier journals in the discipline and in the agronomic sciences. As part of a continuing effort to improve time to publication and electronic access, Weed Science has undergone several changes during the past year. The online interface for manuscript submission has transitioned from AllenTrack to PeerTrack with the objective of making the submission process easier for authors. In 2010, Weed Science changed from six to four published issues per year and introduced a full-page cover photograph for each issue. However, manuscripts are now online quicker and there is a revamped web page ( http://www.wssajournals.org.pinnacle.allenpress.com) for all of the WSSA journals, including Weed Science. The new website allows readers and users to save favorite articles, improves search options, and saved searches. Weed Science is also seeking to publish more reviews and symposium articles in the future. As an example during 2010, articles from a symposium on Nonherbicide Uses of Herbicides was published in Weed Science.
For the 12 months preceding August 1, 2010, 198 manuscripts were submitted to Weed Science compared to 150 in the previous twelve-month period. Of the manuscripts accepted, 62% were accepted compared to 57% the previous year. Table 1 shows a comparison of Weed Science turn around times versus some other related journals. Table 2 shows the Impact Factor for Weed Science and other related journals for 2009 and aggregated over the past five years. Weed Science ranks at 19 of 61 journals in the Agronomy category and 70 of 172 journals in the Plant Sciences.

The excellent reputation of the journal would not be possible without the cutting edge research submitted by authors and the diligent work of the editorial board and the hundreds of referred reviews that are submitted annually.
