Le genre Lomariopsis Fée (Pteridophyta, Lomariopsidaceae) à Madagascar est représenté par six espèces : L. boivinii Holttum, L. cordata (Bonap.) Alston, L. crassifolia Holttum, L. longicaudata (Bonap.) Holttum, L. madagascarica (Bonap.) Alston et L. pollicina (P. Willemet) Mett. Nous décrivons et illustrons ici trois espèces nouvelles, L. christensenii Rakotondr., sp. nov., L. commersonii Rakotondr., sp. nov. et L. holttumii Rakotondr., sp. nov. et signalons pour la première fois la présence à Madagascar et aux Comores de l'espèce d'Afrique tropicale L. warneckei (Hieron.) Alston. Des paraphyses écailleuses, coriaces, pédonculées et peltées sont signalées pour la première fois dans le genre Lomariopsis.
Floral anatomy of the monotypic Gabonese genus Pseudartabotrys Pellegrin was studied, in order to get a better understanding of the origin of pseudosyncarpy and its morphological context. Receptacle vasculature is moderately advanced with a partial perianth cortical vascular system, however much less developed than that of Annona L. Anther histology is complex, with a thick hypodermal sclerenchyma on the abaxial side, reminiscent of that previously recognized in Uvaria scabrida Oliver, whose fruit resembles a pseudosyncarp. Gynoecial anthotaxy, 1 (2)-ovulate carpels and an outer compitum foreshadow the pseudosyncarpous fruit. Androecial and gynoecial vasculatures are free and both trimerous and pentamerous, following the likely basal condition in Magnoliales. A new kind of food body for the Annonaceae, found at the adaxial concave base of the inner petals, epidermal in origin with a lipidic spongy frame and showing no direct connection with venation, is briefly described. We emphasized the significance of classical approaches in the study of endemic and possibly endangered taxa, which are often revealed to be critical in the understanding of biological evolution, both by the primary data obtained and by the field and experimental researches they further suggest, in comparison with more widely distributed taxa.
Lysimachia rupestris F. H. Chen & C. M. Hu is reported for the first time in Vietnam, in Cat Ba National Park. The supplemental description of its floral characters is applied. It has glabrous yellow corollas divided near to base, and stamens with short filaments connate basally into a ring and basifixed anthers opening by apical pores. The systematic position of L. rupestris F. H. Chen & C. M. Hu and its closely related species is also discussed.
In the end of the XIXth century French botanist A.R. Franchet has described near 60 taxa in the genus Primula L. In many cases, the original descriptions of Primula taxa were based on one or a few different gatherings, comprising several specimens which were sent to different herbaria. Consequently, a high number of isotypes and syntypes can be found for some names. The modern revision of various Primula taxa during the inspection of material in some important herbaria (BM, E, G, K, LE, MHA, MW, NS, NSK, P, W, WU) and using Databases of herbarium collections through internet, have revealed the need to restrict the typifications of several names. 16 taxa were discussed, 14 names of taxa were typified, 11 of them (P. amethystina, P. bella, P. cernua, P. dryadifolia, P. pinnatifida, P. secundiflora, P. septemloba, P. sonchifolia, P. spicata, P. yunnanensis and P. delavayi) were lectotypified here, also five isolectotypes and 51 syntypes were listed.
An earlier type designation for a Philippine taxon of the tribe Guettardeae to Timonius pachyphyllus Merr. is found to be erroneous, because the specimen designated is inconsistent with the original material as it clearly represent a different species. To clarify the application of the name T. pachyphyllus, it is thus lectotypified here with a specimen housed in the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, Herbier national de Paris (P).
The genus Jacquemontia Choisy comprises climbing, rarely erect herbs or subshrubs with stellate, rarely forked, glandular or simple trichomes, simple style with two terminal, ellipsoidal stigmas, and capsules opening through eight valves. This study aims to clarify the delimitation of a group of eight easily confused species of this genus, including Jacquemontia evolvuloides (Moric.) Meisn. and seven related species that form a group characterized by equal lanceolate, acuminate sepals and rotate-infundibuliform corolla. An identification key, relation of the synonyms, type material, selected examined material, comments regarding the taxonomy and distribution of the species are provided. Twelve new synonyms are proposed, and four lectotypes are designated.
A lectotype and epitype are here selected for Ixauchenus sublyratus Cass. We have determined that this name is applicable to a taxon of the Lagenophora gracilis species complex.
