The Blossom Sand is a lateral equivalent of the Austin Chalk Group, developed in Fannin, Lamar, and Red River counties in northeast Texas. Ammonites from this unit are Placenticeras syrtale (Morton, 1834), Baculites sp. cf. haresiReeside, 1927, and Glyptoxoceras texanum, n. sp. The general aspect of the Placenticeras assemblage suggests a late Santonian age for this unit.
