Two new species of the superfamily Oripodoidea, Maculobates bruneiensis sp. nov. and Perscheloribates interlamellarissp. nov., are described from Brunei. The first new species differs from other species of Maculobates by the presence of an anterior notogastral margin and a specific furrow on ventral side. The second new species differs from other species of Perscheloribates by the microfoveolate body surface. The genera Maculobates and Perscheloribates are for the first time recorded in Brunei; Maculobates is for the first time recorded in the Oriental region.
The pupae of Alepia montana Bravo, Alepia truncata Bravo, Lago et Castro and Psychoda simillima Tonnoir, belonging to the subfamily Psychodinae, are described and illustrated. The pupae of A. montana and A. truncata were collected in tree holes in the city of San Ramón de la Nueva Orán, Province of Salta and the pupa of P. simillima in small pool on the nameless stream near El Hoyo city, Province of Chubut, Argentina. The pupa of P. simillima is similar to other pupae of the genus Psychoda Latreille, being distinguished by some features in the last segment and by respiratory trumpet. These are the first pupae described of any species of the genus Alepia Enderlein.
A new species, Nannotanyderus kubekovensis, belonging to Tanyderidae (Diptera, Nematocera) from the Middle Jurassic of Siberia (Russia) is described and figured. Three hitherto known species of the genus NannotanyderusAnsorge, 1994 are compared.
The subgenus Scymnus of Scymnus Kugelann, 1794 from China is revised. Fifty-six species of the subgenus Scymnus known to occur in China, including twenty seven new species are documented: Scymnus (Scymnus) impolitussp. nov., S. (S.) obesussp. nov., S. (S.) zhangmuensissp. nov., S. (S.) byssinussp. nov., S. (S.) makuensissp. nov., S. (S.) extumidussp. nov., S. (S.) comosussp. nov., S. (S.) chouisp.nov., S. (S.) trachypussp.nov., S. (S.) deltatussp.nov., S. (S.) leigongicussp.nov., S. (S.) arciformissp.nov., S. (S.) luxiensissp.nov., S. (S.) acerbussp.nov., S. (S.) pingqianensissp.nov., S. (S.) deflexussp.nov., S. (S.) plautussp.nov., S. (S.) xiongfeiisp.nov., S. (S.) recavussp.nov., S. (S.) nabangicussp.nov., S. (S.) fasciculatussp.nov., S. (S.) fusinussp.nov., S. (S.) guniujiangicussp.nov., S. (S.) caiyanghensissp.nov., S. (S.) serratussp.nov., S. (S.) biconvexussp.nov., and S. (S.) clavellatussp.nov.Scymnus (Scymnus) sufflavusCanepari, 1997 and S. (S.) trisulicusCanepari, 1997 are recorded from China for the first time. Nomenclatural history, diagnoses, illustrations and distribution are provided for fifty-five recognized species. A key to the species from China is presented.
A new genus, Cretodascillusgen. nov. in the family Dascillidae with a new species C. sinensissp. nov., is described from the Early Cretaceous Yixian Formation of Inner Mongolia, China. The fossil taxa described in Dascillidae have been critically reviewed and the Upper Triassic ApheloodesDunstan, 1923 (type species A. obliquumDunstan, 1923) and LeioodesDunstan, 1923 (type species L. planumDunstan, 1923) are removed from Dascillidae to Coleoptera incertae sedis, the Miocene ProtoacnaeusWickham, 1914 (type species P. tenuicornisWickham, 1914) is transferred to Psephenidae and MiocyphonWickham, 1914 (type species M. punctulatusWickham, 1914) to Scirtidae.
Data on an infestation of ectoparasites on a Canarian Houbara Bustard Chlamydotis undulata, fuerteventurae Rothschild et Hartert, 1894 are presented for the first time. Two insect groups were discovered: Icosta (Rhyponotum) pilosa (Macquart, 1843) (Hippoboscidae, Diptera) and a possibly unnamed species of Philopteridae (Phthiraptera) closely allied to Otidoecus houbarae (Barthélemy, 1836). For the latter, a DNA-barcode is presented. The philopterid was found in a phoretic relationship with the hippoboscid.
