Drosanthemum floribundum (Haw.) Schwantes, a South African endemic, is here recorded as an alien species from a coastal cliff in the Skikda region of north-eastern Algeria. The population consists of several dozen hanging tufts spread over an area of about one hundred square metres. This is the first record of the species from Algeria and the second from continental North Africa. The site is exposed to sea spray and dominated by indigenous herbaceous plants. Given the substantial size of the population and observed vegetative spread, we consider D. floribundum to be naturalised at the reported site. Accordingly, D. floribundum should be added to the list of alien species established in Algeria. This is the fourth alien species of Aizoaceae in Algeria, in addition to Aptenia cordifolia, Carpobrotus edulis, and C. acinaciformis.

Drosanthemum floribundum (Haw.) Schwantes, ein südafrikanischer Endemit, wird hier als gebietsfremde Art von einem Küstenkliff in der Region Skikda im Nordosten Algeriens beschrieben. Die Population besteht aus mehreren Dutzend hängenden Büscheln, die sich über eine Fläche von ca. 100 m2 verteilen. Dies ist der erste Nachweis der Art in Algerien und der zweite auf dem nordafrikanischen Festland. Der Wuchsort ist der Meeresgischt ausgesetzt und wird von einheimischen krautigen Pflanzen dominiert. Aufgrund der beträchtlichen Größe der Population und der beobachteten vegetativen Ausbreitung gehen wir davon aus, dass D. floribundum an dem gemeldeten Wuchsort eingebürgert ist. Dementsprechend sollte D. floribundum in die Liste der in Algerien. Dies ist neben Aptenia cordifolia, Carpobrotus edulis und C. acinaciformis die vierte gebietsfremde Art der Aizoaceae in Algerien.
