This study determines the beliefs of vocational university graduates the suitability of their alma mater's curriculum for employment preparation. Fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) was performed on data from 521 valid returned questionnaires. The importance performance analysis results indicated that both the satisfaction and importance level were high for the attributes of ‘resist pressure', ‘learning initiative', ‘responsibility', ‘service devotion', ‘professional ethnics and morals', ‘teamwork skill', ‘communication skill', ‘problem-solving skill', ‘interpersonal relationship', ‘disciplinary skill of table service', and ‘sanitary knowledge'. ‘Stability' and ‘mood control' were attributes of high importance but low satisfaction, indicating that improvement was required in the curriculum plan. Regression analysis of the curriculum plan was performed to determine the effects of ‘curriculum design', ‘teaching', and ‘practical training programme (PTP)' on employability with respect to ‘professional competency' in ‘work attitude', ‘core skills’, and ‘disciplinary skills'. The results of multiple regression analyses were confirmed through fuzzy QCA, where the importance of ‘curriculum design' and ‘PTP’ was identified.
