The problem of determination method on the span of constructions crossing curved river is necessary to be researched not only because its close relation to navigation safety, but also because no clear method has been put forward so far, the minimum span of structures across natural curve river, which is considered as channel width (not considering the influence of tidal currents) is studied in this paper. From the perspective of navigation safety, the method of determining the minimum span of constructions crossing natural curve river can be obtained by establishing mathematical calculation models of flow-induced drift of natural curve and the range of turbulent flow around construction piers. The results show that the span of constructions crossing natural curved river is closely related to the navigation width of the ship, ship's drift distance induced by flow and wind, turbulent range of construction pier etc. The more the above factors are, the larger the minimum span of constructions crossing curved river is.
