The methodology presented in this paper was designed for the development of regional strategies in Spain to ensure national harmonization regarding the management of coastal risks and, at the same time, account for the specific characteristics of each one of the twenty-five coastal regions in Spain. These methods have already been implemented for the development of four regional strategies in Spain for the provinces of Cadiz, Malaga, Almería and the Balearic Islands, which were approved and adopted by the Spanish Government in 2022.
